The U.S. $100 bill is the most widely accepted currency in the world. You can take one of those bad boys almost anywhere in the world and get a cha-ching from the person you're waving it at. If you have stacks of them, you're ready to party. As a result, it's also one of the most common bills to be counterfeited. I mean let's be honest, if you could print some on your computer, you might be tempted.... right?
Being the most popular amongst the criminal element, the $100 bill is always getting security upgrades. Sometime in the next few months old Benjamin Franklin will be getting yet another face lift. In addition to all the other cool security features the bill currently sports, a ribbon with images that move when the bill is tilted will be added. Also a drawing that changes colors depending on its angle will be part of the upgrade package. These along with six other new features will be added to hopefully slow the printing of mad money.
Even with all of these security measures, I'm sure it won't be long until someone is knocking out the fakes. That's just how criminals roll.

Pennies... the Unappreciated Coin.
I don't know about you... But I pick up pennies. I pick them up and put them in a jar and when the jar is full, I trade them bad boys in for green backs. (paper money) However, I know a lot of people that don't feel like it's worth their time to bend down and pick up a penny.
In Canada, the penny has reached such a low status that they actually have stopped minting the coin. (Read about it here) As a result, cash transactions will now be rounded to the nearest $0.05 mark. In other words if your morning coffee normally cost you $1.27, you'll now pay $1.25, if it's $1.28, you'll pay $1.30. Now rest assured, businesses will not loose 2 cents per cup of coffee. So you can bet that the price of coffee will now go up to the next highest 5 cent mark. Interestingly, debit purchases will not be rounded.
I have to say I do understand why they are doing away with the coin. According to the article it cost 1.6 cents to make one penny.
On the flip side, many years ago, Canada did away with the paper dollar and two dollar bills, replacing them with coins. This was done because the coins last much longer than their paper counterpart. The U.S. has tried several times to put out a $1 dollar coin with limited success.
What I see is a move to do away with currency all together. Citing the cost to taxpayers. For instance, in the example of the penny, it cost the Canadian taxpayers $11 million a year to produce the little coin. I personally don't like the idea of all my money being digital. That's too easy for big brother to lock an account, seize my money, or for the cyber hacker to run out with my hard earned paycheck.
Weigh in... leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Billion Dollar Home
So what if you had a net worth of $43 Billion? Yeah... with a B. What would you do with that kind of money? Personally I can think of some really cool things to do. Cars, boats, vacations... oh and of course houses. (yes plural)
Of course if you're Mukesh Ambani, you would build an almost $2 Billion dollar home. What would that look like you ask? Well, first it would be a 27 story skyscraper. The bottom 6 floors are for parking, leaving 400,000 square feet of living space for Mukesh, his wife Nita, and their three children. Hmm... that's about 80,000 square feet a piece. I'm not sure that's enough... but some times you have to make do with what you have. (I have to laugh at this, my house is about 1200 square feet of living space and one bathroom. For a family of four.)
The only comparable property (cost wise) is a $70 Million triplex penthouse at the Pierre Hotel in New York.
Here are some pictures of this crazy house.
You can read about this opulent home here.
I have to laugh when I look at this kind of crazy spending of money. I have hot flashes when I go to buy a $15,000 car. I'd have a stroke writing a check for something like this. LOL

Over the Top Advertising
Companies spend a lot of time and effort to make sure that their product or service is a household name. The goal is to make sure when you go to the store, you pick there stuff. Some of the more successful have become synonymous with the type of product that they sell. For example:
Who do you think of when I say:
Soda
Tissue
I would say that most of you said Coke or Pepsi for the first and Kleenex for the second. That's because they have spent a boat load of cash to get their product name imprinted on your brain.
I came across this ad from 3M for their bulletproof glass. Now I must say these guys have put their money where their mouth is.
This is supposed to be 3 million dollars behind their bullet proof glass. The tag line... If you break it, you keep it. I'm not sure why someone didn't just run into it with their car.
Point is... the next time you need bullet proof glass... I bet you think of 3M... LOL.

They Just Don't Make Them Like That Anymore
You ever notice how much we have become a throw away society. It seems like nothing last anymore. My wife and I have been married for almost 20 years and we're on our FOURTH washer. My parents had the same washer for like 30 years. We've had all kinds, Maytag, Kenmore, it didn't matter. They all bellied up on us. What we did do this time is go back to a top loader. Just a simple, no frills washer.
I told my wife if I'm going to have to buy a new one of these stinking things every four or five years, I'm not spending $800 to $1200 on the sucker. Bargain basement is what we went with! $299.00 AND, it's simple enough that we can work on it ourselves.
It's just frustrating to work so hard to make ends meet and turn around to buy a big ticket item that junks out on you in just a few years. We bought a $175 faucet for our kitchen sink because it was a Moen. Oooohhhh... Aaaahhhhh.... It junked out after a little over a year. It's just ridiculous.
How about you? What have you spent money on only to turn around and buy another one WAY too soon?
Makes you want to revolt doesn't it?
Sorry about the rant... Just needed to vent. I do feel better now.

Being Sick and The Bling Ring
Oh my goodness... the last seven days have been a ride. First I get some kind of killer virus that decides to liquefy my gut for two days straight. Then my wife comes down with some kind of whooping cough that just won't go away (which I then seem to also catch). THEN, my little buddy, Daishi (Our miniature Dachshund), gets sick enough he ends up overnight at the vet. WOW... I'm ready to get things back to normal around here.
Well in my quarantined state this week, I was able to watch a lot of TV (It's the only thing I could do). I caught up on The Big Bang Theory and Ridiculousness. On one episode of Ridiculousness, they had the legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather and his fiancé as guest "host" (I guess that's what you call them). At one point in the show, they start talking about the ring that Mayweather bought his fiancé. Oh and she had it on... It's the biggest diamond I've ever seen on a finger. WOW!! Here is a picture of that bad boy.

The main stone is an 18 carat diamond. The band is dotted with 10 - 1 carat diamonds
I've seen various cost listed, but the average is around 2.5 million dollars
While the ring is certainly IMPRESSIVE! I have to say, I don't really think it's that "pretty". Can you image how bad that thing would snag on stuff. It would be my luck that my fiancé would snag it getting in the car, the diamond would pop out and go down a gutter. I'm sorry, I think I could think of something better to buy with that kind of money. I mean there are some nice houses you can get for $2.5 mil.
What was even crazier about this guy is that he has a duffel bag with him at all times. What's in it you ask? A million dollars cash. Yep... $1,000,000.00 bucks CASH!
Evidently... I'm in the wrong business.
So... I have to know... What do you think? Is it too much?
Leave a comment and let me know.
