Now that is one cool pad!

Have you ever watched the show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition? I've often fantasized about them coming to redo my house. How cool would that be? Of course being a sci-fi nerd, I would have to have a room dedicated to all the stuff that I love. (Star Trek, Star Wars, Aliens, Space 1999, and so on...)

Here are a couple cool theater rooms that people have put together. I admit... I'm quite jealous of these rooms. Also, I give them two thumbs up for cool factor.

Star Trek Themed Theater

Stargate Themed Theater

As I was looking for some cool room ideas, I came across a site that talked about some cool themed hotels that you can go stay at.... Check this out!

Capsule Inn Akihabara in Tokyo

Fanta Suite, Burnsville Mn.

The Hobbit Motel in New Zeland

Hotel Sidi Driss in Tunisia

I would love to see the Hotel Sidi Driss... I don't know that my wife would approve.

My Precious

Please let me take a moment.

The purpose of this blog is to have light and fun content. That being said, I feel that I would be remiss if I didn't take a moment to mention that my heart and prayers go to the families and friends of those affected by yesterday's shooting.

************************

Last night I had the pleasure of taking my daughter out for dinner and a movie. It's been a long time since I've taken her out for a daddy/daughter date. For me it was an especially precious moment since next Saturday she gets married. Now I KNOW,  she will always be my daughter.... but it just won't be the same.

She wanted to see The Hobbit since she enjoyed all three of the first movies. I also enjoyed the original three movies, mostly, so naturally, I wanted to see this one. Now don't worry, I'm NOT going to give up any spoilers. I'm just going to give you my impression of the film.

First, let me say the movie was visually EPIC. The sweeping and vibrant shots pulled you right into the screen. The special effects were also top notch. Wardrobe of the actors, A+. It was also good to see some familiar faces from the other films.

Now what I didn't like.

It took too long to get moving. It was too long. Not enough action. I wanted to see more magic from Gandalf. And... it was too long.

Now please don't assume that I did not enjoy the movie. It was just a bit lengthy for my taste. Lots of epic shots with nothing going on. It reminded me of the last movie in the LOTR trilogy. In that movie, I was like, get up the stinking mountain already.

That said, I will likely own the DVD of this movie when it comes out.... AND, I'll be in line for the second and third, just like I was for this one. So, if you REALLY liked LOTR, you're going to love this one. If not, maybe not so much.
