The McRib is back at McDonald's. It's one of my favorite sandwiches that they offer on the menu. The combination of pork, bread, BBQ sauce, pickles, and onions make for a glorious taste bud explosion. I often wonder why they only bring it back for a limited time. I mean seriously... I would eat one of those bad boys every day if I could afford to.
However.. today... my love of the sandwich was brought up short by a post a good friend of mine made on Facebook. It detailed the ingredients that go into the delectable sandwich that I so love. Depending on what site you go to, you'll find that the sandwich has some 70 to 80 different ingredients. Some of them are not very appetizing at all. I'm not going to get into details here, I'll let you look it up on your own.
So now that I'm educated on the food that I'm eating, I have a decision to make. Should I eat the McRib? Or do I forever banish it to the pits of culinary hell? I can't answer that right now. I will say that for the next few weeks, it's off the menu for me.

12-12-12 The Day McDonalds Melted Down
I live in a small town in Southern Illinois. The town is home to under 6000 people. (Yes you read that right, 6000) We are a rural area that is heavy in farming. Some might say we are of the red neck persuasion. But I'm here to say, ya'll don't know what youin's is talkin' bout.
To say that we have a diverse array of eating establishments would be, well, hilarious. We do not have fine dining per se. You ain't gonna find no escargot here. Well maybe on your front step in the morning, but not on a dinner plate, ya feel me. Let me list for you the eateries that are currently available in our wonderful town.
All that said to prep you for today's story. In such a small town, it gets around pretty quick when one of these places is doing some kind of special. Well McDonald's had a special today. One they probably are glad won't come around again for a long time. In honor of 12-12-12, they offered Big Macs for $1.12 (limit 12 per customer). Now of course I was not going to miss out on a cheap Big Mac. So at noon, I went to purchase two of those bad boys.
What I witnessed was like the end of days. Cars were lined up the street waiting to go through the drive thru. Not willing to wait, I made the crazy decision to actually go into the beleaguered restaurant. As I entered the foyer, I was not happy to see no less than 25 people in line. What concerned me more was when they all turned to me and said they had already ordered. THEY WERE ALL WAITING FOR THEIR BIG MAC's. The poor staff was in chaos as they tried to fill the insane amount of orders for Big Mac's. It was like fast food had been reduced to bullet time in the Matrix.
After almost 8 minutes, I finally received my two Mac's. I know, 8 minutes isn't long. And your absolutely right. If I'm waiting for a steak or pizza or a filling to be drilled. In fast food time, that's like, four days.
So there you have it. Today I witnessed the most successful and well oiled fast food chain in the world, brought to it's knees, by a little town in Southern Illinois. (Never under estimate the power of a red neck)
Ya'll come back now!
