If you live in a small town, it's very likely that your familiar with the fair. Most small towns have one. In my town they actually have two. One is the County Fair, the other is the Fall Fun Fest. During the Fall Fun Fest they shut down several blocks of main street for four days. Once the street is closed food vendors, crafts, and carnival rides move in and set up.
It's a great time to go up and see what the latest crazy food is available. You have your regulars: corn dogs, pork burgers, pork chops sandwiches and hot dogs. However, there is a whole bunch of other types of foods you can only get during the fairs. Like: Taco in a bag, fried snickers, lemon shake-ups, to name a few.
For me, each year I have to get certain things. Every year I get a Stromboli sandwich, a pork chop sandwich, BBQ nachos, and to drink a lemon shake-up. Now if you've never had a lemon shake-up, you are missing out on one of the most delightful drinks on the planet earth. Okay, that may be over the top, but they are stinking good! So good in fact that I became discontent in waiting for a year to roll around to get my next one. So I looked online and found a recipe. With a little tweaking, I found the sweet spot (pun intended).
So here it is, I recommend you give it a try. (Thanks Blaine for the idea for my blog)
1/2 a lemon
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 cup crushed ice
Enjoy!
