Argo

I just finished watching the movie Argo. I'm sure, like myself, you've seen many movies that are based on a true story. What I was surprised to find out about this movie is HOW much of it was true. Of course they had to Hollywood it up a bit. But over all the story is straight up legit.

The story is about an incident that took place in Iran at the American embassy. On November 4th 1979, the embassy was overrun and 52 Americans were taken hostage. They were held for 444 days. However, six members of the embassy escaped and were taken in by the Canadian ambassador.

The film is about the operation to rescue the six hostages hiding out with the Canadians. I don't want to ruin the movie for you, so I don't want to give much more than that. If you want to know more about the operation, it was declassified 17 years later by President Clinton.

You can read about all the events surrounding the crisis on Wikipedia:

NOTE: I would like to let you know that the language in the movie Argo  is a bit rough at times.
Here is a link to a site that will give you the details of that content so you can decide if you want to watch the movie.
