Grandpa Jake's Cheap Breakfast

Growing up, my dad would be the one who would cook breakfast on the weekends. Not always, but most of the time. I learned how to cook omelets, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and even crepes from my dad. Now, I love to cook breakfast for my wife and kids. One of our favorite dishes was hot chocolate. Now I can see your wheels turning already. Hot chocolate?? Say what??

Let me elaborate. At the Jake house, when you say I want hot chocolate for breakfast, we do not mean the cup of hot beverage. (It's part of the dish, but not all of it.) Here it's a bit more than just the drink.

You start by toasting two pieces of bread. While that's going, make your cup of hot chocolate. (I prefer mine to be made with milk. Oh, and make sure you have marshmallows) Once the toast is done, spread a generous layer of peanut butter on one of the pieces of toast. Now here is where you can have some variation. You can stop with the peanut butter or you can add butter on the other piece. If you really want to jazz it up, you can add honey to the mix. Once you have everything spread onto the toast, make a sandwich out of it and cut it in half.

Now your hot chocolate should be done in the microwave. Make sure you add your marshmallows if you have them. Place the cup of hot chocolate on a plate along with your sandwich. Get a tall glass of water for the side and your ready to go.

Here is the best part. You dip your sandwich into the hot chocolate. It is soooooo scrumptious! And it's filling. So there you have it, a simple, inexpensive, and filling breakfast.

Enjoy!
