Sophia Stewart - Sophia Who??

Perhaps you have heard of these two movie franchises....

I would be very surprised if you haven't heard of these two films. The Matrix & The Terminator. Both films and there sequels grossed receipts that total over 2.5 billion dollars. And Sophia Stewart just won a law suit that shows she was the original creator of these stories. 

She won the copyright infringement case against Warner Brothers and will now receive the biggest payoff in the history of Hollywood.  Witnesses and FBI investigators found that the studio and Wachowski Brothers schemed to dodge the copyright by removing 30 minutes of the film and having closed door discussions.

She filed her case in 1999 after seeing the film and realized that the story was based on her manuscript The Third Eye. (Copyright 1981)  So it would appear justice has been had. Of course now I'm going to have to read the book so I can see for myself.

That was some expensive plagiarism.

Skynet is Born

On this day in 1996 (February 10th), after a 3 hour long game, world chess champion Garry Kasparov was beat in the first of six games of chess by Deep Blue. Deep Blue was an IBM computer capable of analyzing 200 million moves per second. Fortunately, like John Connor, Gary was able to come back and best the computer with three wins and two ties.

In 1997 Kasparov had a rematch with an enhanced Deep Blue. The first game went to Kasparov, the second to Deep Blue, with the next three ending in a tie. However, on May 11th 1997, Deep Blue won the match by taking the sixth match. 

Six years later, in 2003, Garry took on Deep Junior. The match ended in a tie. 

So I ask you, did Deep Junior, in a ruse, allow the games to be a tie? Maybe our computers are just waiting for the right time to take over the world.
