December 7th - Pearl Harbor

At around 8:00 am Sunday morning, December 7th 1941, over 350 Japanese war planes decended on the island of Oahu. When the dust had settled, five battleships, 3 destroyers, and 200 aircraft were destroyed. Wost of all, 2400 American service men were killed, 1200 wounded and the United States was drawn into World War II.

When you look at the world today, it's hard to believe that 71 years ago, nations were locked in mortal combat... and while the loss of life was tragic, I'm thankful for the men and women who gave their lives so I can have what I have today. Be sure to remeber our vets and active military personel. If you see one today, thank them for their service. Let them know they are appreciated.

On a less serious note. Has anyone seen the remake of Red Dawn? I'm hearing good things. I just haven't had time to get to the theater and check it out. The original, with Patrick Swayze is in my top 100 and a classic. Hopefully, I will get a chance to see it before it leaves the theaters.

So, do you have a family member or friend in the military? If so, tell them thanks from me.
